INFRARED SUANA

Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use

infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly.

According to the Mayo Clinic, infrared saunas have been studied for their health benefits,

including improved cardiovascular health, reduced stress levels, and relief from conditions

such as high blood pressure, heart failure, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, headache,

type 2 diabetes, and arthritis. The benefits of using an infrared sauna are similar to those

experienced with a traditional sauna. These include better sleep, relaxation, detoxification,

weight loss, relief from sore muscles, relief from joint pain such as arthritis, clear and tighter skin,

and improved circulation.

The benefits of infrared sauna sessions are varied and can include:

  1. Detoxification: Infrared saunas may aid in the detoxification process by promoting sweating, which helps the body eliminate toxins.

  2. Relaxation: The heat from infrared saunas can induce a state of relaxation, easing tension in muscles and promoting an overall sense of well-being.

  3. Improved Circulation: Infrared heat may enhance blood circulation, which can contribute to better cardiovascular health.

  4. Pain Relief: Some individuals find relief from chronic pain conditions, such as arthritis, as the heat can soothe joint and muscle discomfort.

  5. Skin Health: Infrared saunas might contribute to improved skin tone and clarity by increasing blood flow and promoting collagen production.

  6. Weight Loss Support: While not a substitute for proper diet and exercise, the increased heart rate and sweating during sauna sessions may contribute to temporary weight loss through water loss.

  7. Boosted Immune System: Regular use of infrared saunas may help support the immune system by promoting overall health and well-being.

It's important to note that individual responses to infrared sauna therapy can vary, and consulting with a healthcare professional is advisable, especially for individuals with pre-existing health conditions.

No harmful effects have been reported with infrared saunas.

The frequency of using an infrared sauna depends on the individual’s health condition and purpose. According to Good Health Saunas, when you first start using an infrared sauna or when you are feeling particularly unwell, it’s best to ease into a frequent routine. Don’t just start off with using the infrared sauna everyday. Use at least twice a week starting with 10-15 minutes at a time and work up to 30-40 minutes at a time slowly.

Sauna Helper suggests going to an infrared sauna 3 times per week and staying for 30 minutes per session to achieve benefits like stress reduction, increased metabolism, and regulated blood circulation. If you’re new to infrared saunas, start with 5 minute-sessions and never exceed 45 minutes due to the risk of heat stroke and other health complications .

It is important to note that sauna use should be limited to once a day, with sessions lasting no longer than 20 minutes to ensure a safe and enjoyable sauna experience. It’s also important to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol consumption, and listen to your body’s signals.
