POWHER'S RESPPONSE TO COVID 19
These are trying times not only at home in the DMV but around the world. There is suffering everywhere with the number of COVID infections rising, loss of jobs, the isolation, and changes to everyday life.
We are closely monitoring recommendations from the CDC and WHO, as well as reports from local, national and international health agencies on how to reduce the spread of COVID-19. To do our part to flatten the curve and keep our providers, staff and patients safe, we will be staying closed until at the least April 4th, 2020.We apologize for any inconvenience and will continue to update you as soon as we know.
Pursuant to the Executive Order of March 16, 2020 relating to various health care matters and in accordance with the guidance issued by MDH and posted on its website at http://coronavirus.maryland.gov, all providers of health care licensed, certified, or otherwise authorized under the Health Occupations Article shall perform only medical procedures that are critically necessary for the maintenance of health for a patient. All elective and non-urgent medical procedures and appointments shall cease effective at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 and shall not be performed for the duration of the catastrophic health emergency.
That being said, POW-HER will only see emergency appointments. The decision of whether a patient’s condition is sufficiently urgent to require in office treatment will, in all cases, be based on the patient’s current health condition and the sound judgement of the practitioner.
At the recommendation of the Maryland Chiropractic Association we will be taking the following precautions with any appointments. Scheduling that allows only one patient in a patient room or waiting area at a time in the office. Documenting in the medical record that patients have not traveled recently or come in contact with anyone who has tested positive or suspected of having COVID 19. We will screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms. No patients with runny nose, cough, or fever in the past 2 weeks will be seen. Follow recommended hand washing and sanitation procedures. Scrupulously disinfect all common areas and all treatment areas before and after a patient is seen. Wear and/or give masks and gloves as deemed appropriate.
We want to stay in touch, and hope that you do too.
We have also made ourselves available for Telehealth consultations with our existing patients. If you have any health concerns or require home exercises please email us at to schedule your consult. Telehealth consultations will be $30 per 1/2hr appointments not billable to your insurance. You will be invoiced as an existing patient.
