Yan Guo
 L.Ac., D.O.M., M.Ac., M.s Acupuncturist

Acupuncture provides a natural, safe, and holistic treatment that can support one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being. The main working mechanisms include unblocking the channels and regulating Qi-Blood between the muscles, bones, and blood vessels. According to the Systematic Classic of Acupuncture & Moxibustion (written before 200 AD), it said “是動則病” “where there is a disrupted movement in the channel, there is a disease.” Needling acupuncture points on channels can facilitate normal physiology. Another fundamental principle of acupuncture is working on subtle energy, which facilitates our body’s functions, such as hormones and neurotransmitters. Acupuncture is an integration of Body and Mind therapy.

As the third-generation Chinese Medicine practitioner trained in Modern Five Element Acupuncture, Sports Acupuncture (Master Tung's System), Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine, Dr. Yan Guo always combine the ancient Chinese medicine philosophy with new Acupuncture skills. Yan received Master of Science in Chemical and Materials Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and Doctor of Oriental Medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.

Dr. Yan Guo evaluates patients thoroughly, and designs customized treatment plans for patients to achieve optimal healthy living. She addresses not only physical ailments, but also supports emotional state for each individual and help them reduce stress. Dr. Yan Guo has a genuine passion for helping others, and she runs a bi-weekly charity acupuncture clinic at a local temple to serve the immigrants and underprivileged population. She is a Buddhist practitioner who regularly attends to meditation retreats.

Andre Clarke
Chiropractic Assistant Trainee

Andre Clarke was born in Clarendon, Jamaica with Track and Field being one of his earliest passions. Right out of high school, Andre had already competed internationally, at large-scale Track & Field competitions such as, the NACAC (North American, Central American and Caribbean) Under-23 Championships. He also went pro at the age of 19, training alongside some of Jamaica’s finest track-stars, like Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Warren Weir, where they were all trained under revered Track & Field coach, Mr. Glen Mills. In some of his most recent accomplishments, Andre Clarke competed at the XXI Commonwealth Games, which were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia in 2018. There, he qualified for the finals in the 400m Hurdles event, placing 7th overall. To finish off his 2018 season, Clarke ranked 7th in the world in the 400m hurdles, with a personal best time of 48.29 sec.

2019 happened to be one of Andre Clarke’s most challenging seasons in the sport, as he suffered a quadricep injury. It was through this injury that he was introduced to PowHer Chiropractic & Wellness Center, where he received several rehab treatments from Dr. Cheryl Lee-Pow. He was able to finish off his 2019 season ranking 7th at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Senior Championships, better known as the “Jamaica Trials”. However, he looks forward to attaining greater victories in the upcoming seasons.

Aside from Track & Field, Andre Clarke attended G.C Foster College of Physical Education & Sport, located in Spanish Town, Jamaica, where he received his certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, in 2016. Currently, he is training to become a Chiropractic Assistant. He mainly assists in guiding patients through proper core training, strength-based conditioning, stretches, and other basic fitness. Clarke aspires to continue his education and training in physical therapy, as well as becoming one of Track & Field’s best hurdlers
